Please forgive me for writing in English. Although I speak & understand basic German, I can't read or write it. I know however, that a lot of you folks learn English in school. That's a big improvement over some Americans, who can't speak or write English correctly !?@?#!
I just purchased a 1961 Ford Taunus 17M Super, at RMSotheby's "Elkhart Auction". I think it's a P3. To make a long story short, although I didn't know anything about it, it was so pretty that if I could get it for less then the low estimate, I'd purchase it. Well, that did in fact happen. I've attached a couple of photos from the site, but there are many more there. The car won't be here until later this week, (it's 2,200 miles away)
I think that this might be one of the very few 17Ms on the road in the USA. Maybe the only one. I have a few other classics, but this is my first German make.
There are no Taunus support sites that I could find here. I read your forum via Google Translate, but I'm confused. I was looking a a general 17M forum to discuss the car, it's driving, restoration, opinions from German owners, etc. But from what I see, this site seems to be only about buying & selling the cars & parts. Is that correct or am I missing something? I really need some knowledge & opinions on what I bought. After having the car for a while & seeing what it needs, then I'll use this forum.
Would you please set me straight or recommend another forum in Germany where they discuss the car?
Thanks so much for any help you are able to provide. This car is a like a cute but strange woman to me !!?
OOPs...the translation is confusing about uploading photos. Do I have to use that site addpics.com to do it? Oh well, you can see the car at RMSotheby's page.
